To find CHILDREN'S BOOKS on a specific topic using the PCC Library Catalog:

Locating a Specific Book in the Children's Room:

Children’s books and videos are located on the first floor in the Children’s Room across from the Circulation Desk.

Call numbers on children’s books look like: BrownM Goodn
Brown
= author's last name
M = first letter of the author's first name
Goodn = first few letters of the book's title

Children’s books are shelved in alphabetical order by author’s last name.

If you have any problems locating a children’s book or any other book in the library, please ask for help at a service desk.

Browse the Collection:

If you are familiar with how the materials in the library are arranged on the shelves, you can use that knowledge to browse within a certain subject area. The following list tells you what sections in the library have books on various topics related to early childhood studies:

A library staff member can help point you in the right direction. Just ask!

Search Other Local Libraries:

PCC Library has a relatively small children's book collection. If you need to find a specific book that we do not have in our collection, you may need to visit another local public or academic library in order to check out the book. You can use the library catalog links below to see if either library has the book(s) you need.

Find WEBSITES:

The websites listed below include songs, fingerplays, crafts, lesson plans, dramatic play activities and much more.

To save time, use the Early Childhood Search Engine. This is a customized search engine that includes these and other sites offering early childhood planning ideas.
