Online Requirements: The HIT program is an online degree program. The HIT courses are NOT offered in a traditional campus setting with the exception of Professional Practice Experience (clinical) courses. If you have questions or concerns regarding the online requirements, please contact Ms. Gooding.

Orientation and Ongoing News/Announcements: Go to http://public.pittcc.edu and create a new account following the instructions listed. This is your information site for everything related to the HIT program. This site provides you with the HIT Student Handbook, all policies of the HIT program, updates and news about the program and gives you the opportunity to communicate with other students in this program.

You must read the HIT Student Handbook and print and sign all pages in section 21. Return these by fax, scanned images or by regular mail to:

Professional Practice Experiences: Clinicals, also known as Professional Practice Experiences, are required in the HIT curriculum. Clinicals are offered at various healthcare facilities in the region around the Greenville area for local students. For those students not local to the Greenville area, six months notice is required in order to develop a partnership with a healthcare facility. If you have questions or concerns regarding clinical placement, please contact Ms. Gay to discuss your clinical needs.

Medical Form: Your progression through the HIT curriculum is contingent upon completion of the Medical Form documenting that you are both physically and emotionally capable of completing the program. The Medical Form should be completed and signed by your physician or nurse practitioner. Please refer to page 2 of the Medical Form for specific instructions. The Medical Form is due within one year prior to your enrollment in your first Professional Practice Experience course. Should you delay your Professional Practice Experience courses later in the curriculum, you must still abide by this time limit. If you have questions or concerns regarding the Medical Form, please contact Ms. Gay.

HIT Student Handbook: The HIT Student Handbook will be forwarded to you electronically by Ms. Gooding.

Screening Requirements: Clinical facilities may require criminal background checks, drug screenings, credit checks, and/or proof of US citizenship prior to or during participation in the clinical portion of a program. Pending the outcome, clinical facilities may deny a student the opportunity to complete the clinical portion of a program. A student who is unable to complete the clinical portion of a program will not be able to graduate.

Additional information regarding these screening requirements will be provided to you by Ms. Gay prior to beginning your Professional Practice Experiences.  Expenses associated with these requirements are the resopnsibility of the students.
