Joyner Finishes 7th to Earn Region X Honors

WILMINGTON—Pitt Community College golfer Derek Joyner was named to the Region X All-Tournament team this month after finishing in a three-way tie for seventh out of the 50 golfers participating in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I District V Championship April 21-22.
After posting scores of 77 in the first two rounds of the event, which was held at the par-72, 7,061-yard Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation, Joyner shot 74 in the final round to finish at 228 (+12).

Andrews Medals at Shipbuilders Memorial

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College golfer Adam Andrews shot 73 and 74 this week to claim medalist honors at the Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial in Williamsburg, Va.
Andrews, a sophomore at Pitt, was one shot better than second-place Michael Shrader of Randolph-Macon College at the par-71, 6,621-yard Blackheath course at Ford’s Colony Country Club.

PCC Finishes Atop Scalf Leaderboard
Bulldogs Win Rain-Shortened Event by Three Stokes
ROCKY MOUNT—Pitt Community College golfers shot a combined 307 (+19) to win a rain-shortened Don Scalf Invitational by three strokes over the host team, North Carolina Wesleyan.
Five squads competed in the originally-scheduled two-day event, which was held at the 7,095-yard, par-72 Ford’s Colony Golf Club. In addition to PCC and Wesleyan, teams from Surry Community College (+47), Johnston Community College (+72) and Chowan University (+85) competed.

Pitt Golfers Place 7th at Barton College Tournament
WILSON—Pitt Community College golfers combined to finish seventh this month out the 11 teams competing in the 2 Targets/Barton College Intercollegiate Golf Tournament held at Wilson Country Club.
The Bulldogs recorded a team total of 630 (+54) at the par-72, 6,851-yard course, 44 shots back of first-place Barton College.
Adam Andrews led the way for PCC with an opening round 76 followed by a 78 the next day. Andrews’ 154 total (+10) placed him in a six-way tie for 24th in the two-day event, which featured 77 golfers including individual competitors from Atlantic Coast Conference schools North Carolina, N.C. State and Duke.

Andrews Leads Bulldogs at St. Andrews Tourney

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College sophomore Adam Andrews shot a 159 over two rounds to post the Bulldogs’ low score and finish tied for 13th at the St. Andrews Spring Invitational this month.
Andrews turned in scores of 79 and 80 at the par-72, 6,954-yard Woodlake Resort and Golf Club, which is located in Vass, N.C. Ian Milne, a Fayetteville State University senior, took home medalist honors with a total of 143 (1-under) for the two-day event.
