Policies

Course Repeats:

Students who take and Occupational Extension course (designated OE) more than twice within a five-year period shall pay a prorated cost of the course determined by Pitt Community College. Students may repeat a Self Supporting class as many times as they wish.

Refunds:

The College may refund registration fees under the following circumstances:

* If a student officially withdraws from the class prior to the first class session, the student will receive a 100% refund.

* If a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, the student will receive a 100% refund.

* After a class begins and a student officially withdraws from the class prior to or by the 10% point of the scheduled hours, the student will receive a 75% refund.


This refund is limited to the registration fee and does not included accident insurance, liability insurance, textbooks or supplies. To officially withdraw for a refund, students must sign a refund form on or before the 10% point of the class. This form is available from the Continuing Education & Community Development Division.

NO REFUNDS or TRANSFERS for Self-Supporting (SEF) courses unless the course is CANCELED by the Continuing Education and Community Development Division.

REFUNDS are automatically processed for ALL COURSES by the college if a course is CANCELED by the Continuing Education and Community Development Division.

Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver for Continuing Education Occupational Extension Classes

Effective July 1, 2009 tuition shall be waived for up to 96 contact hours of non-credit instruction per academic semester for senior citizens age 65 or older who are qualified residents of North Carolina. Academic Semesters are: Spring: January 1 – May 15; Summer: May 16 – August 14; Fall: August 15 – December 31.

Senior citizens are not limited to the number of classes that can be taken using fee waivers as long as the cumulative hours do not exceed 96 hours. However, if the cumulative number of contact hours enrolled exceeds 96 hours in a given semester, the senior citizen shall not receive a waiver for the last course for which he/she registered.
