Blackboard Course Recycling

Course Recycling FAQs

What is the Course Recycling?
Course Recycling is the process in Blackboard that reuses the same Blackboard course each semester but does not maintain & store student data. Therefore, we will no longer have multiple copies of the same course.

How does Course Recycling affect you?
Instructor will now be able to:

  • have more control of when their students can access the course.
  • avoid data loss due to course copying errors.
  • work with course cartridges with less problems. (Many won’t need to be re-downloaded every semester.)
  • take advantage of the way BB is intended to be used & should result in fewer problems and support issues.
  • take advantage of improved system performance by freed up server space.

What is your role in Course Recycling?
With Course Recycling Instructor’s responsibility will change in the following ways:

  1. Instructors will now be responsible for maintaining and storing all student records. (tests, assignments, quizzes…etc)
  2. Instructors will now be responsible for enrolling students into their course(s).

What are your first steps in Course Recycling?
Complete the BB Course Maintenance process.
