'Dawgs Top Wake to End Three-Game Skid
RALEIGH—Pitt Community College ended a three-game losing streak Sunday by knocking off off Region X Conference-foe Wake Tech on the road, 86-83.
Keovonta McDuffie scored 23 points to power the Bulldogs past the Eagles.
Chuckie Becton added 11 points and seven rebounds for Pitt, while Darren Wilson finished with 18 points and nine boards.
PCC shot 58 percent from the floor in the first half against Wake Tech in taking a 42-34 lead into intermission. But the Eagles came out hot in the second half, scoring on three straight possessions to close to within two at 42-40.
A 16-2 run by the Bulldogs made it 58-44 with 10:32 remaining and PCC went 4-for-7 from the free-throw line down the stretch to improve to 13-10 overall, 6-3 in Region X play.
Next up for PCC is Johnston Community College Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Charles Coburn Center. Pitt beat Johnston earlier this season, 87-74, in Smithfield.
