Basketball's Wilson Signs with York College

With PCC Basketball coach Darrick Mullins, left, present, forward Darren Wilson signs a letter-of-intent to play next season with York College (Neb.).

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College basketball player Darren Wilson will head west to continue his playing career after signing with Nebraska’s York College earlier this month.

Wilson, a graduate of Fayetteville’s Westover High School, averaged 11 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in two seasons with the Bulldogs. During his sophomore campaign, the 6-5 forward grabbed 12 boards per contest, good for fifth nationally among NJCAA Division II players.

“We stayed on Darren consistently and he eventually bought into our basketball program,” said PCC coach Darrick Mullins, whose club went 20-12 this past season. “He is now being rewarded for his efforts in the classroom as well as on the court.”

Mullins said Wilson is basketball savvy and will provide York with a solid inside presence next season.
