Tyson's 28 Points Push PCC Past MACU
ELIZABETH CITY—Mike Tyson came up big for Pitt Community College Monday night, finishing with 28 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots to lead the Bulldogs past Mid-Atlantic Christian University, 96-81.
The victory was Pitt’s seventh straight, making the Bulldogs 7-1 overall this season as they head into an 11-day break for final exams. PCC’s next match will take place Dec. 15, when the Bulldogs welcome Region X Conference-foe Guilford Tech to the Charles Coburn Center for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
Against the Mustangs on Monday, PCC and MACU traded baskets for the first five minutes of the second half, which began with the teams tied at 44-all. But with 15 minutes remaining and Pitt trailing 56-55, the Bulldogs orchestrated a 24-8 run to pull away for good.
PCC’s largest lead of the game was 22 points, and the Mustangs never got any closer than 15 points in the contest’s final 10 minutes.
Six players finished in double figures scoring for Pitt. In addition to Tyson, Dee Robinson scored 15 points to go along with 10 assists and a pair of steals. James Nolen added 14 points and nine boards, and JaQuan Blount tallied 12 points, 10 assists and five steals.
