Every year since 2001, PCC has held a program to celebrate the achievements of women. The event is held each March in conjunction with the nation's observance of Women's History Month.

As part of the college's celebration of women's history, the school recognizes a female employee with the "Woman of Substance Award" for outstanding campus and community involvement, attitude of service, commitment and caring, and willingness to 'go the extra mile.'

This year's Women's History Month program will take place March 8 and will feature presentations by Pitt County's Nancy Barnhill Aycock (first female general counsel for University Health Systems), Janice Faulkner (North Carolina's first female Secretary of State) and Rabbi Alysa Stanton (first African-American female rabbi in Mainstream Judaism).
