If a student experiences absences as a result of their disability, they should notify their instructors and the Office of Disability Services immediately. Additional documentation will be required.

If accommodations include books in alternate format, interpreter services, note taker services or accessible classroom furniture, contact the Office of Disability Services immediately after registering for classes and prior to the start of the semester.  All assistive technology on loan must be turned in at the end of each semester. A hold will be placed on the student's record if the equipment is not returned.

Code of Conduct:

Regardless of disability, all students must comply with the Pitt Community College Student Code of Conduct. Adherence to and compliance with the Code of Conduct is considered a core requirement of ongoing enrollment at the college. Students with disabilities are subject to the same disciplinary policies, procedures and sanctions as non-disabled students.

Scheduling Tests:

At least a two-day notice is required in order to test in the ODS Testing Room. If our office does not receive a verbal request for test administration from the student, we cannot administer the test. It is the student's responsibility to ensure the request for test administration has been communicated with faculty and staff (please refer to ODS Testing Accommodation Policy).

If eligible to take exams in the ODS Testing Room, in addition to notifying the faculty, students must contact the Office of Disability Services at least two days before each exam to secure a seat in the testing room. To schedule an exam with accommodations students must call: (252) 493-7557 or stop by Everett, Room 150.
