Leadership Institute Invitation

Dear Colleague:

We invite you to share in a unique professional development opportunity and to join in some fun with your PCC colleagues from all areas of the College. To help develop the leadership potential in each of us, Pitt Community College is hosting the fifth Pitt Community College Leadership Institute this summer, June 4-6 (Wednesday afternoon to Friday noon), at the Greenville Hilton Hotel. The institute will feature individual professional development and team building activities. The College will provide lodging and food costs at the site as well as conference materials.

We have established a website for you to review that illustrates some of the activities and forms.

The purpose of the Leadership Institute is to:

  • Identify and develop individual leadership competencies
  • Promote cross-divisional interaction and college coherence
  • Build problem solving skills
  • Analyze PCC in the context of state and national models

Join us for a series of professional talks and interactive sessions presented by local and state leaders in higher education. The conference will include working sessions that will require some advance preparation and follow-up discussions after the summer session (case studies, individual professional development plans). Past participants have rated the Institute highly.

You must apply to participate. The application is enclosed and also available online at the site mentioned above. Your application is due to Dr. Brian Miller by Friday, March 7, 2008. The Leadership Institute Planning Committee (Alton Wadford, Regina Garcia, Elizabeth Toderick, John Daugherty, and Brian Miller) will then recommend the 2008 Institute class to me. All applicants selected will be notified in mid April.

On behalf of the Leadership Institute Planning Committee, I look forward to an Institute that is empowering and renewing. If you have any questions or suggestions as we coordinate events, please contact Brian at 493-7421.

Sincerely,

G. Dennis Massey, President
