Assessment of PCC Smoking Policy
The Tobacco-Free Task Force has completed multiple assessments related to smoking on the PCC campus.
- An assessment of our current smoking policy was conducted March 1 through March 31, 2009. Faculty/staff survey responses (PDF) and student survey responses (PDF) have been compiled separately.
- Task force members and PCC work study students recorded random observations from February 18 through April 1, 2009 of individuals in compliance and not in compliance with the current smoking policy. The results of these random observations have been compiled into a summary report (PDF). Please note that these results do not reflect total number of compliant and non-compliant occurrences throughout this time period; only those randomly observed.
- The location of smoking receptacles and signage was assessed during the week of March 30 through April 3, 2009. Five receptacles are located closer than 25 feet to the building entrances. The Preschool and seven building entrances have no receptacles. The Preschool and one building entrance have no signage.
- On National Kick Butt's Day, March 25, 2009, 49 students signed a petition for a tobacco-free campus. During Spring Fling, April 1, 2009, an additional 140 students signed the petition. The original signed documents are available upon request.
