Inaugural PCC Bulldog Run Is a Success
WINTERVILLE—When former Pitt Community College student ambassadors met for a reunion earlier this year, they decided they would find a way to give back to the school that had given them so much.
The result of their efforts was the 1st Annual Bulldog Run, a fundraising event that took place on campus Oct. 16, featuring both a competitive 5K race and a one-mile fun run/walk.
With a time of 18 minutes and 50 seconds, Winterville's Devin Gallagher, 16, topped 87 other runners to claim first place in the 5K race. Caroline Owens, a 15-year-old Greenville resident, was the top female runner with a time of 20:47.
Fifty-four walkers took part in the fun run/walk, including PCC President G. Dennis Massey.
According to Ashley Smith, PCC Alumni Relations Director, the inaugural Bulldog Run raised more than $4,000 for student scholarships and educational activities at the college.
