2011 PCC Holiday Show a Record-Setter
WINTERVILLE—With the final totals calculated, Pitt Community College Foundation officials reported last week that the 2011 Down East Holiday Show set new fundraising and attendance records for the event.
According to Susan Nobles, the PCC Foundation’s executive director, this year’s show drew 11,460 shoppers to the Greenville Convention Center during its three-day run – approximately 2,000 more than last year’s record attendance. More importantly, the show generated nearly $86,000 for student scholarships and educational activities at PCC, she said.
“The Down East Holiday Show’s success is important to the PCC Foundation in that it generates funding that helps the college fulfill its mission to educate and empower people for success,” said Nobles, who is also Pitt’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “The results of this year’s record-setting holiday show are reflective of the preparation and hard work put in by our staff and volunteers to make it a successful event for the benefit of those we serve.”
Held Nov. 4-6, the 2011 Holiday Show featured 148 vendors selling everything from holiday decorations, gifts, and food items to a variety of services. Santa Claus was also on hand throughout the event to take photos with children.
Started in 2002, this year’s show was the PCC Foundation’s tenth. Next year’s event has been scheduled for Nov. 2-4 and will once again take place at the Greenville Convention Center. Details and the latest updates on the 2012 show can be found at www.downeastholidayshow.com.
