Financial Aid Office Establishes May 15 as Priority Deadline for Fall 2012 Financial Aid
WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Financial Aid Office has established May 15 as the priority deadline for applying for financial aid for the 2012 Fall Semester, which begins Aug. 15.
Joanne Ceres, PCC Director of Enrollment Management/Registrar, said the college’s financial aid staff would be available to assist students in filing FAFSAs (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on Tuesday, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the counseling area of the Craig F. Goess Student Center.
Ceres said that in order to receive assistance in completing FAFSAs this week, students must bring a copy of their 2011 federal income tax return and their parents' 2011 federal income tax return.
She noted that all students, including those currently receiving financial aid, must complete a 2012-13 FAFSA if they want to be considered for financial aid during the 2012-13 school year, which begins with the 2012 Fall Semester.
Ceres stressed that students must complete and submit their admissions and financial aid paperwork by the May 15 deadline to ensure their financial aid is in place (if it is approved by the federal government) by the time payment for fall classes is due.
“The real important piece with financial aid is the earlier it is submitted, the better,” she said, adding that those who miss the May 15 deadline may have to pay for fall classes out-of-pocket and be reimbursed through financial aid later on, if it is approved.
