PCC Foundation Holiday Show Is Nov. 2-4
WINTERVILLE—Having achieved record-setting attendance and fundraising totals in each of the past several years, it would seem logical to conclude that the annual Pitt Community College Foundation Down East Holiday Show runs on rails and organizers are content with their progress.
But that’s certainly not the case, according to Susan Nobles, executive director of the PCC Foundation and vice president of PCC’s Institutional Advancement Division.
“The Holiday Show is truly a year-round effort for the PCC Foundation, and that hard work pays off each November to the benefit of our students,” Nobles said. “Rising attendance and higher fundraising totals are a direct result of the attention to detail our foundation members and college staff give to the Holiday Show in order to ensure a great event each fall.”
Nobles said last year’s show drew more than 11,000 shoppers to the Greenville Convention Center during its three-day run – approximately 2,000 more than the previous record attendance set in 2010. More importantly, the 2011 show generated nearly $100,000 for student scholarships and educational activities at PCC, she said, adding that the PCC Foundation provides more than $200,000 in scholarships each year.
“Many of our Holiday Show attendees come to the event with the purpose of finding the perfect gift for their loved ones,” Nobles said. “Whether or not they realize it, their attendance ends up providing the perfect gifts to our students as well – an affordable college education.”
This year’s Holiday Show will take place Nov. 2-4 at the Greenville Convention Center. The event, which was first held in 2002, will feature 154 exhibitors selling everything from holiday decorations, gifts and food items to a variety of services. Santa Claus will also be on hand each day to take photos with children.
Show times for this year’s event are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tickets are $6 for those 11 and up. Children 10 and under will be admitted free of charge. Three-day passes are available for $12 and may be purchased in advance at www.downeastholidayshow.com or through PCC's Institutional Advancement Office, which is located in Room 2 of the Vernon E. White Building on the college’s main campus.
