Pair of HVAC/R Students Earn Scholarships
WINTERVILLE—The N.C. State Board of Refrigeration Examiners (NCSBRE) announced this month that it has awarded scholarships to Pitt Community College students Christopher Cobb and Cody Tyndall.
Both students are finishing up the first year of the college’s Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology program this summer.
Cobb, who lives in Greenville, has a 3.46 GPA and will receive $1,500 to offset the cost of his educational expenses. Tyndall, a Deep Run resident, has a 3.62 GPA and will receive $1,000.
“Christopher and Cody are consistently at the top of the class academically,” said Billy Mozingo, chair of PCC’s HVAC/R Department. “Both of them exhibit a strong desire to learn and show excellent leadership potential.”
NCSBRE, which licenses the state’s commercial refrigeration contractors, typically offers two scholarships each year through a competitive statewide program. Students who apply for the awards must be North Carolina residents and enrolled or planning to enroll in either a two-year HVAC/R or commercial refrigeration program.
