PCC Orchestra Returns to the Stage Oct. 29

Under the direction of conductor Michael Stephenson, the Pitt Community College Symphony Orchestra will return to action on Tuesday.

The performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Reimage Church in Winterville, will include works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Russian composer Anatoly Lyadov, and American composer Charles Rochester Young. Music for strings by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins and Brazilian Composer Aguiar will also be performed along with some of the earliest music for brass by Giovanni Gabrieli.

The orchestra’s special Halloween feature will include selections from “The Phantom of the Opera” by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The concert is free to the public, but donations will be accepted.

Children are encouraged to attend the performance in their Halloween costumes. There will be a costume contest during the concert with the winner having the opportunity to direct the orchestra.
