Foundation Announces New Online Option for Submitting Scholarship Applications

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College students wanting to apply for scholarships now have the option of doing so online.

Susan Nobles, PCC Vice President of Institutional Advancement, says the new online application option started June 5. She said it provides students with a wealth of information on each of the scholarships available at the college, including criteria and specific application deadlines.

“The software will automatically match each student’s application with scholarships for which he or she is eligible,” Nobles said. “While many scholarships have already been awarded, we are still encouraging students to apply immediately for scholarships that may still be available this fall.”

Nobles said a link to the online scholarship application is available on the home page of the official PCC website, www.pittcc.edu. She said new and current students must use their MyPittCC login and password to access and complete the application form.

The PCC Foundation Scholarship Committee will work with Institutional Advancement staff to administer and award most of PCC's scholarships using the new online system, Nobles said. Government-funded awards and several specific scholarships, such as the N.C. Education Lottery Scholarship and Golden LEAF Scholarship, will continue to be awarded by the college’s financial aid department, she said.

The 2014 Fall Semester application deadline is June 23. Nobles said that if funding is available after that date, an additional application period will be posted.
