Simons Hired as Asst. Vice President for ITS

Ernest SimonsWINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College administrators have announced that Ernest Simons III has been hired as the college’s assistant vice president for information technology and services.

Simons, 54, joins PCC after having served as vice president for information technology and chief information officer at both South Piedmont (six years) and Blue Ridge (two years) community colleges.

At PCC, Simons steps in for Rick Owens, who was promoted to vice president of administrative services at the college last year. He will be tasked with providing vision, leadership and coordination for campus-wide administrative and academic computing and infrastructure of voice, video and data communications and media production.

A Baltimore native, Simons earned an associate degree in Computer Engineering Technology and a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering Technology from Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) in 1982. He completed an MBA with a concentration in Information Systems at Gardner-Webb University in 2004.
