PCC Offering Pair of Educational Adventures

WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Global: Explore program is seeking individuals interested in participating in a pair of educational adventures it has organized for the spring of 2016.

The first trip will take place March 6-13 and feature visits to London and Paris. The second will be held May 25-June 6 with stops in Italy and Greece and an optional cruise of the Greek Isles.

Those opting for the London/Paris tour will experience British and French culture firsthand and visit iconic sites in both cities, including Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and Big Ben in London and the Arc de Triomphe, Louvre and Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The cost of the London/Paris adventure is $3,000 per person for those 29 years old and under (with three or four people per room). The cost for those 30 years old and above is $3,180 per person (with two people per room).

Tour fees include admission to Windsor Castle, Palace of Versailles, the Louvre, and Notre Dame Cathedral, as well as a light breakfast daily and two local dinners. The program also includes a multilingual, full-time tour director, expert licensed local guides, and 24-hour emergency support.

The Italy/Greece tour includes three nights in Rome, where participants will visit Vatican City, the Colosseum and former heart of the Roman Empire, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain. In the Sorrento region, they will visit Vesuvius, the volcano that covered Pompeii in ash in A.D. 79.

A ferry will take the group from Italy to Greece with a first stop set for Delphi, site of the famed Oracle and Temple of Apollo. The tour ends with sightseeing in Athens, including visits to the Acropolis, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Plaka shopping district.

The cost of the Italy/Greece adventure is $3,515 per person for those 29 years old and under (with three or four people per room). The cost for those 30 years old and above is $3,775 per person (with two people per room).

Travelers who take the optional cruise will board in Athens. The ship will make five stops in the Greek Isles: Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Crete and Santorini.

The cost of the Italy/Greece adventure for those taking the optional Greek cruise is $4,064 per person for those 29 years old and under (with three or four people per room). The cost for those 30 years old and above is $4,474 per person (with two people per room).

Tour fees for the Italy/Greece trip include admission to the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Vesuvius, Ruins of Pompeii, the Delphi site and museum, and the Acropolis, as well as a light breakfast daily and five dinners. For individuals taking the cruise, it includes three meals daily on the ship.

Prices for all trips are good through Sept. 30, and payment plans are available.
