PCC Seeking Student Ambassadors for '16-17

PCC will accept Student Ambassador applications for the 2016-17 academic year through Feb. 7.

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College is seeking student ambassador candidates for the 2016-17 academic year, which begins in August.

According to Ashley Smith, PCC Alumni and Development Services director, student ambassadors assist the college and PCC Foundation during a variety of special events and fundraisers. She encouraged students with outgoing personalities, professional appearance and high academic achievement (3.0 GPA or better in high school or college) to apply.

“Student ambassadors are excellent students, professional, care about their community, and have great communication and leadership skills,” Smith said, adding that the students carry out a community service project each year that encourages and teaches them good citizenship.

Ambassador applications, which are due by Feb. 7, will be screened for strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of PCC and the community, ability to make a positive impression, scheduling flexibility, access to transportation, and high level of commitment to PCC.

Applications may be downloaded by visiting the PCC Student Ambassador page on the college’s official website, www.pittcc.edu. All applications must be typed. No handwritten application will be accepted.

Those selected for the ambassadors program receive scholarships equivalent to in-state tuition and fees. In return, the students conduct campus tours, recruit, and assist with school-related events and activities. They must also maintain full-time enrollment status, perform weekly service hours, and maintain a 3.0 grade point average or better.
