Jones Hired to Develop Major Gifts Program

James E. JonesWINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College has hired James E. Jones to serve as major gifts and planned giving officer for the PCC Foundation, the college’s primary fundraising organization.

A Havelock native now living in Greenville, Jones will be responsible for growing the Foundation’s major gifts program and developing and implementing strategies that cultivate relationships with individuals and corporations capable of making donations of $25,000 and above.

“I’m happy to be at PCC and working with the PCC Foundation,” Jones said. “I enjoy working with a professional team that positively impacts our community and the individuals who live in it.”

Prior to joining PCC, Jones spent 27 years as a banking executive, business consultant, and corporate and foundation officer.

Jones graduated from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. He completed the Risk Management Association Financial Management program at East Carolina University, UNC-Chapel Hill’s Advanced Management program, and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

Jones and his wife, Sherry, who is the event coordinator at Vidant Medical Center, have three boys: 20-year-old Cameron, 14-year-old Spencer and Landon, who is 11.

Away from the office, Jones says he enjoys being with his family, assisting with youth sports, scouting with his boys, and spending time at the beach.
