Financial Aid Office Creates FAFSA Mondays

WINTERVILLE—Starting March 14, the Pitt Community College Financial Aid Office will hold “FAFSA Mondays” to answer questions about financial aid and assist students with filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The first FAFSA Monday session will take place tomorrow, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Craig F. Goess Student Center, Room 120. PCC counselors will be on hand for the program, which is also scheduled to take place at the same time and location March 21 and 28 and April 4, 18 and 25.

In order to complete a FAFSA, PCC Financial Aid Director Tamara Glaspie says students must bring with them their social security numbers (or Alien Registration Number for non-U.S. citizens), most recent federal tax returns and other records of money earned. She said it may be possible to transfer federal tax information into a FAFSA form using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.

If applicable, students must bring bank statements and records of investments as well as records of untaxed income, Glaspie said, adding that dependent students will need to bring most of the required FAFSA information for their parents, too.

Glaspie said that before arriving to a FAFSA Monday event, students must create a Federal Student Aid ID at www.FSAID.ed.gov. She said the ID gives students access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and can also serve as a legal signature.
