First-Ever Priority Admissions Day Is April 25

Students Must Reserve Spot in Invitation-Only Program by April 18

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College is making fall enrollment a cinch for select Pitt County high school seniors through a special admissions event next month.

According to Joanne Ceres, PCC Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management, Pitt will hold its first-ever Priority Admissions Day program April 25 at 4 p.m. in the Craig F. Goess Student Center multipurpose room. Space is limited and will be provided on a first-reserved, first served basis, she said, adding that the event is by invitation only and available to those who RSVP by 5 p.m. on April 18.

“During this event, attendees will receive the tools needed to be successful during their time as new students at Pitt Community College, including information about making the transition from high school to college, support services in place to help them succeed, and important details regarding academic advisement,” Ceres said. “Because PCC is their top choice for college attendance, they will be given preference in their course selection and have the ability to register for fall 2016 courses before the rest of their classmates.”

In order to participate, a student must meet the following criteria:

• Pitt County high school senior.
• Admitted to PCC with the intention of enrolling as a full-time student during the 2016 Fall Semester.
• Have either been waived from all placement testing under Multiple Measures or have already taken the placement test and placed out of all developmental coursework.

Current high school students who may be eligible for a placement test waiver under Multiple Measures are encouraged to submit their high school transcript to the PCC Registrar's Office as soon as possible so it can be evaluated. Ceres says admissions personnel can use the transcript from a student’s first semester as a senior to make the determination.
