Transitional Studies Holds NAEHS Induction

PCC Transitional Studies 2016 NAEHS Inductees!

WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Transitional Studies Department held its first-ever ceremony to induct students into the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS).

With family, friends and instructors looking on, 26 students from the college’s Adult High School, English Language Acquisition, Adult Secondary and Adult Basic programs were inducted into NAEHS on April 26. All were selected by PCC Transitional Studies faculty and staff.

“Your selection is the culmination of outstanding attendance, cooperation and self-reliance at Pitt Community College,” PCC Director of Transitional Studies Laurie Weston told the honorees. “Fewer than five percent of all adult education students are selected for NAEHS membership, making you very special students in our program.”

Weston said the new NAEHS members received a Certificate of Membership that can be framed, an NAEHS lapel pin, a letter of recommendation they can attach to future job applications, and a letter of recommendation for financial assistance should they opt to pursue higher education.

“We are so proud of the accomplishment of these students and excited to be able to offer this opportunity for recognition to them,” Weston said. She added that the only obligation students have as NAEHS members is to share with family, friends and co-workers what their success at PCC has meant to them.
