GREENVILLE—A trio of Pitt Community College nursing students received scholarships last month from the Pitt Golden K Kiwanis.

On May 18, the organization presented its 2015 Pitt Golden K Kiwanis/Clifton E. Boyd Nursing scholarships to Allison Lennon, Tarena Scott and Devin Laughinghouse.

Lennon, a California native who graduated from J.H. Rose High School in 2015, recently completed the nursing program’s general education coursework with a 4.0 GPA. The Greenville resident, who made the Dean’s List at Pitt in both the fall and spring semesters, will receive $1,000 through her scholarship.

Also a Greenville resident, Scott is a 2012 Rose graduate who will receive $500 through the Boyd Scholarship. An Honor Roll student this spring with a 3.45 GPA, she earned her associate degree from the nursing program on May 9.

Since she is participating in the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) program, Scott will now move on to East Carolina University (ECU) to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Lennon is also a RIBN student and will seek a four-year degree in nursing at ECU, once she has completed her associate degree at Pitt.

Laughinghouse, a 2011 D.H. Conley graduate from Greenville, earned associate degrees in nursing and general education from PCC last month. An Honor Roll student during the spring semester with a 3.17 GPA, he received a $500-Boyd Scholarship.

Administered by the Greater Greenville Community Foundation, the Pitt Golden K Kiwanis/Clifton E. Boyd Nursing Scholarship is named for a former member of the Kiwanis Club and PCC Foundation Board. The scholarship is presented annually to outstanding PCC and ECU students pursuing nursing degrees.
