Speedway Pleased with Hiring Event at PCC

Representatives from Speedway, LLC, were on campus in June to meet with prospective employees.

WINTERVILLE—Pitt Community College Career Services is reporting a successful hiring event this month for Speedway, LLC.

The nation’s second largest company-owned and -operated convenience store chain met with PCC students and area residents in the college’s Craig F. Goess Student Center June 17. PCC Career Outreach Specialist Rachel Bridgers, who helped organize the program, called it “a huge success.”

Speedway, said Bridgers, was seeking employees to staff more than 40 positions in stores in it operates in the areas of Greenville, Ayden, Grifton and Washington. She said the company interviewed 95 applicants during the three-hour event at PCC and added that 64 of those individuals would be considered for hire, including three for district manager positions.

“The Speedway representatives were very pleased with the event and the high-quality applicants they met,” Bridgers said. “They are looking forward to holding another event on (our) campus in the fall.”

Speedway LLC, headquartered in Enon, Ohio, operates approximately 2,750 stores in 22 states. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corporation.

Located in Suite 170 of the Goess Student Center, PCC Career Services works closely with various campus departments and community organizations to provide current students and alumni enriching professional development opportunities, including career exploration, mock interviews, resume preparation and job search tactics.
